Do I have a blooper story to tell?

Of course, I do!

My goal is to always make my photos perfect. But no matter how carefully things are planned, there will always be sessions with hitches.

A few weeks ago, I posted this photo in one of my blog entries.

As you can see, the photo came out well. It was supposed to be routinary – just another well executed photo session, right?  Wrong! A few things happened behind the scenes.

After the shot was taken, my photographer looked at his camera to see how it turned out.  As he was previewing the photo, the sound of a dull thud caught his attention.  The noise was generated by my own butt hitting the floor.  Of course my photographer took a picture of the scene first before helping me up.  Here it is.

Yes, that’s me with my rump kissing the floor.

Embarrassing as it may seem, I guess this is the part where you all want to hear a blow by blow commentary.  So here it goes.  While my photographer was fiddling with his camera, I decided to relax.  I put the computer on my lap and leaned back.  But there was one small problem – stools do not have back rests.  I literally got a whack on my butt to remind me of this supposedly obvious fact.

I know what you’re all thinking: a classic case of absentmindedness.  Excuse me, but I beg to disagree.  I am proud to say that it was not all thoughtless.  I had the presence of mind to sacrifice my own body to save my precious laptop from crashing on the floor.  As you can see in the photo, just moments after my nasty fall, I still managed to raise my beloved Mac way up high to shield it from more harm that might come its way.

All these made me ponder.  If I were in a sinking ship and had to choose what to save: my butt or my laptop…

I should stop.  I’m babbling.  I know, I know – there is no excuse for stupidity.  So, enough of this.

Instead, I should tell you about the next morning.  When I woke up, I felt a minor ache on both my butt cheeks.  As I looked at the mirror, I saw two awful bruises on the exact areas where I landed.  Here’s a picture of those bruises.

Horrible, aren’t they?  But I’m not the least bit worried.  It’s just one of the hazards of the trade – all in a day’s work.  Nothing a good massage can’t fix.
